I was in a gaming Discord talking about VR when a friend mentioned a game called House of the Dying Sun. I looked it up, and it was a super-neat looking, low-poly, bright-colored space flight VR title. The most interesting part was a space game without black skies. This is the screenshot that got my attention:
The game was released shortly after that conversation. I even got a copy and was going to play, but I just got into some other games; so, it got placed on the back burner. I knew I wanted to get this game played some for this post. I played for an hour and a half on the stream on Wednesday. There were even viewers the whole time. That's not common for small streamers like me.
After battling SteamVR to stop crashing, I finally got the game running and showing in OBS Studio. I put on the headset and started my experience for the crowd.
The first thing you notice is that you're in a field of Hot Wheels-sized space ships. I launched into the tutorial, and when I jumped into the ship, it was so cool. The screen you see on the picture is a zoom of your crosshair. That is so cool. The colors are so vivid. This game is beautiful. The gameplay was pretty solid. I feel like it might take some effort to do the harder versions of the levels.
In the middle of the stream, SteamVR crashed, and at one point the right eye started flickering causing some intense mental reactions. However, I relaunched the game, and everything was fine.
Even with all of the issues, I had a fun time, and I am absolutely going to put more time into this game.
Here is a link to the full stream if you're interested in seeing the progression of the game as I played it.

I enjoy making content for the internet from podcasts to game play footage to commentaries. More recently, I've switched focus to streaming more VR content via my Oculus Rift.
